Since the founding of the company in 1987 by Walter Pinna following his degree in economics and commerce from the University of Cagliari with a research thesis on the industrial processing of basalt, the values have been and remain those of the ancient art of Sardinian stonemasons combined with an industrial approach that is characterized by high quality standards and a continuous search for innovation in processing. The common thread in all our work is respect for the naturalness of the materials immediately perceptible to the eye and especially to the touch.
The feature in CP basalt is to work alongside the client from the very first steps that mark the design and furnishing choices of their home or to support the technician in the implementation of a project to the full satisfaction of the client.
Thanks to our experience of more than 30 years, we are able to find the ideal solution for every need, in terms of style and functionality, with a wide range of different workmanship and materials.
Our experience and confidence in working with all materials enable us to find often unique and inimitable solutions that meet the taste of the client and also satisfy his or her practical needs.
Basalt is a magmatic rock found in vast expanses generally stratified at very high depths on the Earth’s surface; submarine basaltic flows are also widespread. Superficial basaltic formations are found in India (Deccan), the United States (Lake Superior), Scotland, Iceland, Greenland, Argentina, and Italy (Sardinia).
Italian basalt from the region of Sardinia is characterized by an amount of matter ranging from 2,700 to 3,100 kg/m3; therefore, it has a relatively high density compared to other qualities of basalt, has a coloration ranging from light gray to dark gray tending to black. It has a high resistance to wear and compression, which is why the relationship between man and basalt rock is witnessed as far back as ancient history.
Basalt works are known to megalithic cultures, such as those in Sardinia dating from the Nuragic period (1500-500 BC). Its widespread distribution enshrined its success as a raw material for sculpture, often in contrast to marble, in all major ancient civilizations.
Basalt has excellent thermal, light, fire and water absorption resistance. Suitable for outdoor use due to its non-slip and special processing, it also provides excellent adhesion indoors, more so than any ceramic, and also provides thermal insulation. All the characteristics sought in a building cladding can be attributed to this natural stone, as a very strong rock that is not affected by rain, moisture, hail, ice, wind or snow and remains immune to mold and insect attack, as well as being very resistant to heavy loads.
The use of basalt is suitable for both interior and exterior use. Our state-of-the-art machinery allows us to achieve very high levels of precision in cutting and finishing, and our experience allows us to select fine-grained stones of the highest quality, enabling a final destination that ensures easy cleaning and hygiene as in the case of bathrooms or kitchens. Its neutral coloring makes it adaptable and compatible with any type of environment and material such as steel, wood, other stones, etc. The care and study of material selection allowed us to decline its use in any situation.
